Summary

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our dedicated team at ARC. The APP may serve in lead capacity to orient, train, and direct other back office and coordinator staff. Augment a physician’s ability to provide medical services to patients; collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations and provide direct patient care services. Works with the physicians in the clinical area to maximize efficient patient flow through the office.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physician in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care; record the normal and abnormal data for review by the physician.
  • Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and record the date in the patient’s record; write progress notes; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings; obtain psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assume responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients.
  • Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
  • Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of acute, chronic, and long-term healthcare issues.
  • Participate in basic science and clinical research projects conducted by supervising physician; reporting of adverse events and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Review the work of lower rated employees; train new personnel. Participate in teaching students and residents in techniques and procedures which are unique to specific clinical setting.
  • Facilitates evaluation of records by physician(s), peers, and Quality and Standards according to protocols, and receives and implements constructive directives.
  • Educates patients and/or families about preventative care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications.
  • Coordinates and examines varying types of data from multiple sources (medical records, clinical laboratory, patient, etc.) for accuracy with good clinical practices.
  • Providing post-procedural follow-up care
  • May be asked to supervise and manage clinical staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Organizational Relationships

  • The APP is an employee of Texas Liver Institute (TLI) and accountable to the Human Resources Department for all contracts, payroll, personnel reports and other administrative matters.
  • The APP is under the direct supervision of the physicians.
  • The APP is responsible to TLI for all required licenses and certifications as required by law.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, oral, and telephone skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate ability to coordinate and establish priorities among diverse tasks.
  • Effective organizational and communication skills.
  • Able to initiate or modify behavior to accomplish tasks in spite of environmental factors, priorities, or problems that might not be well defined or matters that are subject to change. Understand nature and intent of instructions and grasp new routines or procedures quickly.

Education and Experience

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited training program
  • Licensed as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) in the state of Texas (Required)
  • Knowledge of clinical research design and good clinical practices.
  • On the job training and education will be provided with both hands on experience and textbook knowledge
  • APP Experience: >1 Year (Preferred)
  • Computer literate.
