What We’re Looking For:

  • Compassionate, patient-centered professional dedicated to excellence in cardiovascular care
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary cardiovascular surgical teams
  • Experience providing direct patient care under physician supervision in cardiovascular or cardiothoracic settings
  • Prior experience or training in vein harvesting techniques for coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current certification by the National Committee on Certification of Physician Assistants
  • Current Louisiana licensure as a Physician Assistant
  • Strong clinical judgment and the ability to perform delegated cardiovascular procedures and interventions
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and patient safety standards

What You Will Do:

Provide direct cardiovascular care for patients under the direction of cardiovascular surgeons, following established protocols and procedures appropriate to the needs of the age population served.

  • Evaluate outcomes, consult with cardiovascular care team members, and adjust plans of care to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Perform delegated cardiovascular medical interventions and procedures per established practice parameters, including endoscopic or open vein harvesting for CABG procedures when credentialed
  • Write initial and ongoing assessments, progress notes, orders, and other documentation in the medical record
  • Assist cardiovascular surgeons with examinations, intraoperative procedures, and postoperative care
  • Order and interpret laboratory, respiratory, and radiology data for incorporation into the cardiovascular medical record
  • Demonstrate competent clinical skills and judgment when assisting in stabilization and management of cardiovascular patients
  • Assess and evaluate cardiovascular histories and develop, coordinate, implement, evaluate, and revise plans of care
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborate in cardiovascular care planning
  • Provide teaching and information to patients and families related to cardiovascular procedures and recovery
  • Collaborate with all members of the cardiovascular team to meet learning needs and conduct discharge planning
  • Utilize internal and external resources to resolve and assist in managing cardiovascular patient needs
  • Serve as a liaison and resource person for staff and the community regarding cardiovascular care
  • Perform other duties as assigned
