Job Title: Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner – Orthopedic Surgery
Overview: A well-established orthopedic surgical center is seeking a motivated and collaborative Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join its team. This advanced practice provider will work closely with a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon who focuses on minimally invasive spine surgery and artificial disc replacement. The role offers the opportunity to work with leading-edge surgical technologies and techniques while supporting patient care from initial evaluation to post-operative follow-up.
Location: Regular travel required between clinic locations in Marietta, Woodstock, Acworth, and Canton.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinic Support:

Perform comprehensive physical exams, pre-operative and post-operative evaluations, and document findings.

Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including imaging and labs.

Establish diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans.

Coordinate care with specialists and other healthcare providers as needed.

Assist with minor in-office procedures, such as suturing, wound care, and injections.

Apply and remove casts, splints, braces, and other orthopedic devices.

Provide patient education regarding treatments, medications, and the use of orthopedic equipment.

Document patient encounters, transcribe orders, and support accurate coding for services provided.

Triage patient phone calls and respond to clinical questions.

Deliver continuity of care through ongoing patient monitoring.
Surgical & Hospital Support:

Obtain detailed pre-operative medical histories and physical data.

Assist in surgical procedures, including first assist, wound closure, and application of surgical devices.

Conduct hospital rounds, document progress notes, and contribute to patient treatment plans.

Dictate discharge summaries and other required documentation.

Support the surgeon with call responsibilities, including coordinating admissions and emergency surgical interventions.

Evaluate emergency room and inpatient consults.
Administrative & Professional Responsibilities:

Participate in staff meetings, committees, and continuing education activities.

Maintain patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Keep accurate surgical logs for documentation and billing purposes.

Stay current with professional licensure and certifications.
Qualifications:
-
Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.

Current, unrestricted state license and certification.
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Conflict resolution and customer service abilities.

Operating room experience preferred

Willingness to travel regularly to multiple clinic locations.
Additional Details:

OR involvement may include approximately one day per week or providing backup coverage when needed.
