Full Job Description
OverviewConducting psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing, and treating mental health conditions, and managing medication for patients. Specific requirements could include a PA-C certification with psychiatric experience or a PMHNP, and strong knowledge of psychiatric medications. The role is hybrid, therefore PA will be present in clinic, and at times remote.
Duties
- Conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for adult patients.
- Diagnosing and treating a range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders.
- Prescribing and managing psychiatric medications.
- Developing and implementing treatment plans.
- Providing patient education and support.
- Collaborating with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- May include tasks like conducting therapy sessions
Requirements
- Certification: PA-C (Physician Assistant Certified) with experience in psychiatry or a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification.
- Experience: Previous experience in a psychiatric setting, preferably with experience in medication management and treating various mental health conditions.
- Skills: Strong diagnostic and assessment skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Licensure: Must be licensed to practice as a PA in the state of Georgia.
- Physical Requirements: While specific requirements vary, PAs in mental health may need to be able to stand for extended periods, perform some physical tasks, and have good coordination.
