Nurse Practitioner Job Description

OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background and demonstrate expertise in various areas of patient care, including acute care, home care, and gastroenterology. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality healthcare services, managing patient cases, and contributing to clinical research initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and evaluations to determine health status and needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient assessments and clinical guidelines.
  • Perform medical procedures including catheter care and management as required.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in hospital settings to provide optimal patient care.
  • Participate in clinical research projects to enhance treatment protocols and improve patient outcomes.
  • Manage acute care situations effectively, ensuring timely interventions for patients in critical conditions.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding health management and treatment options.
  • Oversee case management activities, coordinating with other healthcare professionals as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nursing or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Current Nurse Practitioner certification and state licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Experience in acute care settings preferred; familiarity with home care practices is a plus.
  • Proficiency in medical documentation practices and familiarity with laboratory procedures.
  • Knowledge of gastroenterology principles is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate patient-centered care.

Schedule: 24-hour in-house shifts

Will cover multiple locations

Level II and Level III NICUs

NICU Census: 4-20 per day depending on location

Newborn Census: 4-18 per day depending on location

Procedures: Neonatal intubations, umbilical line placement, needle chest thoracentesis, neonatal delivery attendance, and resuscitation

Support Staff: Nurses, RTs, therapists, pediatric NPs

Board certification required
