Full Job Description

The Physician Assistant will work in partnership with physicians to assess, plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate patient care and treat chronic and acute injuries. Through the application of evidenced-based decision making the physician assistant serves as an educator and clinical mentor to patients and members of the health care team with the goal of achieving optimal based patient outcomes. The physician assistant performs selected laboratory testing, offer referrals to physicians, write prescriptions, assists in the operating room, and performs office procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment.

  • This position will require travel to other OSMS location.

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of a four-year physician assistant baccalaureate program and a year of clinical training.
  • Completion of a two-year accredited physician assistant program (which requires two years of undergraduate study) plus two years of clinical training following completion of PA program.
  • State accreditation based on certifying exam.
  • Continued employment requires 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years and passing a recertification examination every six years.
  • Orthopedic experience preferred.
  • Hand and upper extremity experience preferred.
  • Operating room experience preferred.
