TITLE: Physician Assistant

REPORTS TO: Employing/Supervising Physician _________________________________________________________________
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for promoting and maintaining patient health and providing medical services in clinic and in the OR with your employing/supervising physician.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS):
- Take patient history, perform physical examination, assess patient, and record pertinent data in the medical record.
- Develop a plan of care based on the appropriate diagnosis and presenting problems and collaborate with physician as necessary.
- Instruct and counsel patient based on plan of care. • Contribute to physician’s efficiency in clinic and OR.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays, MRI’s, venous doppler reports, CTscans, lab results, etc.
- Perform therapeutic procedures by administering injections, suturing, and managing wounds and infections.
- Complete forms and charts pertinent to patient medical record. • Write prescriptions for medication or DME for patient as necessary.
- Round on patients in hospital setting. • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with facility procedures.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.
- Develop healthcare team staff by providing information and educational opportunities.
- Provide excellent service to all patients.
- Possess a thorough understanding of all insurances / IPA’s / medical groups that are contracted with COA.
- Establish and maintain courteous, communicative and cooperative relations when interacting with other personnel, providers and the public.
- Adhere to COA Policy and Procedures at all times.
- Adhere to Safety Policy and Procedures at all times.
- Adhere to HIPAA Policy and Procedures at all times.
- Maintain and acceptable attendance record.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervising physician.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Education, experience and skills
MINIMUM
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program and Certification as a Physician Assistant by a national certifying agency.
- Current California license to practice in the State of California.
- BLS for health care providers.
- Demonstrated knowledge of infection control standards.
- Ability to use and reinforce proper body mechanics and appropriate personal protection equipment.
- Previous clinical experience.
- Excellent bedside manner, patient service oriented.
- Excellent verbal, written and telephone skills.
- Multi-task oriented and can work in a fast paced environment.
PREFERRED
- Previous PA-C experience in an orthopaedic clinic.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Bilingual.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH ADA:
Carrying/Lifting: Assisting disabled patients, positioning patient, medical equipment and supplies.
Standing: Performing medical procedures.
Sitting: Clerical duties, computer work, paperwork, and phones.
Walking: Assisting patients, transporting and retrieving supplies and equipment, performing procedures.
Repetitive Motion: Reaching and grasping, medical procedures, keyboard activities.
Visual Acuity: Ability to view computer monitor, read, ability to visualize patient basic assessment.
Environmental Exposure: Patient contact, chemical exposure, such as glutaraldehydes and other germicidal agents. Risk of blood borne pathogens.
Speaking and Hearing: Communicating with patients and coworkers.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 – $105,000.00 per year
