Description of Modena Allergy + Asthma: Modena Allergy + Asthma (MAA) is a rapidly-growing, pediatric and adult allergy, asthma, and immunology clinic with practice locations in throughout Southern California and Arizona. The Modena Allergy clinic and brand is associated with the highest standard of excellence. We are currently hiring a Physician’s Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to help staff and run the clinical operations, primarily at our Sorrento Valley location although coverage may be extended to other sites in the Greater San Diego area on an as-needed basis. Must have excellent communication skills, bedside manner, and a strong work ethic with a desire to be part of a team that is committed to caring for the whole patient. Candidates with prior ICU, hospital, or other acute medical care are highly desirable. Job Responsibilities:
· Interviewing, examining, and diagnosing a wide range of allergic and immune conditions, including environmental, drug, and food allergies, asthma, nasal polyps, chronic sinusitis, eczema, allergic contact dermatitis, eosinophilic conditions (hypereosinophilic syndrome, eosinophilic granulomatosis and polyangiitis, eosinophilic gastrointestinal disease), chronic spontaneous urticaria, hereditary angioedema, & mastocytosis, mast cell activation syndrome.
· Ordering and interpreting a variety of allergy and asthma testing and other procedures, including:
- Allergy skin testing
- Spirometry, DLCO and fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO)
- Mannitol challenges
- Drug challenges
- Food challenges
· Monitoring the administration of allergy immunotherapy and monoclonal antibody injections.
· Supervise and help treat of anaphylaxis, including administration of injectable epinephrine, IV fluids, oxygen, and nebulized medications.
· Administer IV medications and infusions, such as IVIG, on occasion.
· Oversee the implementation of MAA standard operating procedures (SOPs), and maintaining staff training logs, for all aspects of clinical care, such as protocols detailing the administration of allergy immunotherapy (injections), skin testing, food and drug challenges, and food oral immunotherapy (OIT) treatments.
· Participate in and oversee the conduct of our clinical trials.

· Provide teaching to patients.
· Help support the food allergy oral immunotherapy (OIT) program. Our OIT program offers an evidence-based, affordable option for families and children with anaphylactic food allergies. Our OIT program is rapidly expanding & will continue to be an area of rapid growth. Oversee the making of food solutions. Participate and oversee food updosing and office food challenge appointments. Will be required to take call related to OIT on a rotating basis.
Skills: IV start, knowledge in administering IV infusions (for training, answering RN questions).
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree
BLS for Health Providers (AHA)
ACLS (AHA)
Ped Adv Life Support Prov (AHA)
California RN License
National NP board certification in aligned specialty with the practice area (FNP, AGPCNP, or ANP)
