Overview:

This position is within Womack Army Medical Center’s Department of Emergency Medicine located in Fort Bragg, NC.
This department is open 24 hours, 7 days a week.
We provide care to over 95,000 beneficiaries including active-duty military, service member families, retirees and their spouses.
Fort Bragg is 2 hours from the beach and 5 hours from the Appalachian Mountains with easy access to I-95 and all points north and south. This central North Carolina location enjoys seasonably palatable weather year-round. Many facilities and services are offered such as first class golfing venues and renowned universities, a skeet range, riding stables, ice skating rink, state-of-the-art fitness centers, daycare, star-quality dining, full service banking, convenience shop, barbershop, and florist.

Responsibilities:

As a Physician Assistant (Emergency Medicine) you will perform duties such as:
  • Evaluate the total health care needs of patients and develop plans to meet the patients’ needs.
  • Provide consultation, teaching, and coordination with patients and their family members regarding treatment and medical care.
  • Work collaboratively with the physician team in patient evaluation, management, and revision of therapeutic plans for assigned patients.
  • Provide educational management to patients and their families regarding disease processes and diagnostic tests.
  • Prescribe for and treat a variety of diseases, disorders, and injuries within the health clinic.
  • Record entries into patients records to include history and exam findings, results of laboratory tests, X-rays, diagnoses, treatment plans, drugs dispensed or administered in accordance with approved protocols.
  • Perform routine procedures such as EKG testing, suturing, incision and drainage for assigned patients.

Qualifications:

US Citizenship Required
At least one year of experience as a certified physician assistant treating patients in an Emergency Hospital setting.
Graduation from a physician assistant educational program, accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARCPA), or its predecessors, at a college, university, or educational institution that is accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the Secretary, U.S. Department of Education.
Successful completion of the National Commission of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) examination; must maintain status as a certified physician assistant, including completion of all requirements for continuing medical education (CME) and re-certification.
All Applicants must be licensed as a Physician Assistant by the recognized licensing agency of a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
