Hennepin Healthcare, Minnesota’s first Level 1 Trauma Center, seeks a full-time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Dermatology team of two General Dermatologists and one Physician Assistant to provide care to adult patients in our downtown Minneapolis Dermatology Clinic and community clinic sites. This academic Dermatology practice involves caring for a large and very diverse patient population; it is necessary to demonstrate sensitivity, knowledge and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, gender, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Clinical care will include common outpatient dermatologic conditions including in-office procedures with the opportunity to develop your own niche.
- Have a role in clinic both as an extender and in your own independent practice after completing a successful training period.
- Schedule will be 8am to 5pm with 36 hours of direct patient care per week; call and weekends are not expected.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direct acute and chronic care to adult patients as part of the interdisciplinary team in the ambulatory department
- Perform initial and on-going assessment of patient’s medical, physical, and psychosocial status
- Obtain and evaluate health and medical history, perform a physical exam related to the head and neck, conduct preventative screening procedures based on age and history, and identify medical and health risks
- Complete accurate and timely documentation of observations, interventions, plan of care, referrals, and follow-up
- Formulate appropriate differential diagnosis based on history and physical examination
- Identify needs of the individual, family, or community and develop a plan of care/or education plan; reassess and modify as needed
- Order, conduct, and interpret diagnostic tests, and therapeutic treatments
- Prescribe, administer, and dispense therapy devices and legend drugs
- Make appropriate referrals to other healthcare professionals and community agencies
- Support new and existing programs which expand the organization’s role in the community
- Participate in performance improvement activities
- Adhere to productivity standards established by the organization
- Perform other related duties but only after appropriate training
QUALIFICATIONS
- Physician Assistant candidates:
- Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program and current (or eligibility for) license as a Physician Assistant from the State of Minnesota
- Nurse Practitioner candidates:
- Must be a master’s-prepared graduate from an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program. Current (or eligibility for) license as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) from the state of Minnesota
- Certification as a Dermatology Certified Nurse Practitioner (DCNP) must be obtained within three years of employment
- 5+ years working as a Provider in a Dermatology Clinic
SALARY Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant pay is based on years since licensure and specialty area. The grid below represents current pay rates for this position:
