Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) experienced in diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with vascular disease, including dialysis fistula access and revascularization, pelvic congestion syndrome, LE venous insufficiency, deep venous outflow obstruction, or stenosis and peripheral arterial disease. This position is office-based and primarily focused on consultations, ongoing evaluations, follow-up care, and in-office procedures. In addition, the Advanced Practice Provider may be involved with direct patient monitoring during and after office-based procedures requiring conscious sedation. The Advanced Practice Provider will work closely with the physician and perform consultations and procedures within his/her scope of practice once trained and qualified.

  • Obtain complete medical and surgical histories and perform physical examinations focusing on pelvic and lower extremity vascular conditions
  • Educate patients and/or families about venous insufficiency, vascular ulcers, wound care, deep venous obstructive conditions, pelvic congestion syndrome, and peripheral arterial disease
  • Develop a patient-specific treatment plan
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Discuss patient with internal wound and vascular specialists as needed or refer to external specialists if services cannot be provided to patients in the clinic
  • Procedures may include ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy, microphlebectomy, puncture aspiration, and/or limited ultrasound studies.
  • Collaborate with supervising physician regarding complex patients, abnormal findings, or side effects to treatment
  • Perform independent evaluations and treatment in emergency situations
  • Respond to patient telephone calls regarding medical conditions and emergencies
  • Document using an electronic medical record
  • Prescribe and administer medications in accordance with state laws and scope of practice
  • Work with a physician under a collaborative agreement, including the scope of practice and level of supervision required
  • Participate in continuing education to sustain skill set and for professional growth and development
  • As a clinical partner to the physician, develop and maintain relationships with other local practices, advanced practice providers, and physicians
  • Participate in peer review activities
  • Assists and/or participates in the training of clinical staff
  • Promote continuous improvement and deliver safe and effective care according to UVVC clinical guidelines and best practices.
  • Lead, direct and support a team of Nurses and Medical/Surgical Assistants with varying credentials in a fast-paced outpatient facility while ensuring compliance with UVVC policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • At least two years of inpatient, outpatient, or surgical setting required
  • Procedural experience preferred
  • Vascular experience strongly preferred
  • Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program
  • Current and active NP or PA licence in the state you are applying
  • Current national certification through AANP or ANCC for Nurse Practitioner
  • Current national certification through NCCPA for Physician Assistant
  • Current in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Ability to obtain DEA license
