Position Overview:
Paragon Surgical Specialists has an opportunity available for a certified Physician Assistant. This position will provide care for patients with general surgery issues, including but not limited to gall bladder disease, hernia, bowel obstruction, post operative care, abscess or traumatic injury.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist physicians with surgical procedures in the OR as requested / needed within scope of practice.
- Take call as assigned from 0700 until 1630, serving as primary responder with full physician back up. These duties may include returning calls to hospital staff or patients, performing initial consults when the physician is in the OR or assisting in the office with work-in patients when time allows.
- Perform initial consultations or subsequent follow-up hospital care for new or previously established patients.
- Routinely see scheduled patients in the office for general surgery issues to include, but not limited to, I & D, hemorrhoids and laceration repairs.
- Participate in morning patient rounds at 0700 as assigned to improve efficiency of morning office schedules.
- Maintain their state medical license and active privileges with Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited PA Program
- Licensed, or eligible, for North Carolina as a PA
- Current BLS and ACLS through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
