OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Wound Care Physician Assistant to join our healthcare team providing in-home wound care for our clients. It is necessary for the candidate to possess a strong background and certification in wound management and demonstrate exceptional clinical skills. This role involves providing specialized care for patients with complex wounds, ensuring optimal healing and recovery. The Wound Care provider will work closely with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective care plans.
Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate patients’ wounds, documenting findings accurately.
- Develop individualized wound care plans based on assessment data.
- Perform wound dressing changes using appropriate techniques and materials.
- Educate patients and their families on wound care management and prevention strategies.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Monitor patients for signs of infection or complications related to wound healing.
- Maintain accurate records of treatments, progress notes, and patient education.
- Stay updated on best practices in wound care and participate in ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5l3 years experience as a Physician Assistant (Required)
- Wound Care Certification (Required)
- Wound Care Working Experience: 3 years (Required)
- Long term care or skilled nursing center experience : 2 years (Preferred)
Skills
- Strong knowledge of wound care principles and practices.
- Experience in occupational health, home care, or senior care settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with advanced wound management utilizing biomaterials.
- Proficiency in hospital medicine and critical care medicine practices.
- Ability to perform triage effectively in fast-paced environments.
- Understanding of ICD-9 coding related to wound diagnoses is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients and collaborate with healthcare teams.
- Compassionate approach towards patient care, demonstrating empathy and support.
