Part-Time Physician Assistant – Internal Medicine & Pediatrics
Our Internal Medicine & Pediatrics practice is seeking a Part-Time Physician Assistant (PA) to join our team. The ideal candidate must be comfortable treating patients of all ages, from infants (3 months and older) to geriatrics, be proficient in suturing, and have experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems. Bilingual proficiency in English and Vietnamese or English and Chinese is required.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations for patients across the lifespan.
- Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests and imaging as needed.
- Recognize when to refer patients to specialists or higher levels of care when necessary.
- Manage chronic conditions, including but not limited to hypertension, diabetes, and asthma.
- Provide preventive care, including vaccinations, routine screenings, and wellness exams.
- Educate and counsel patients and families on health conditions, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
- Demonstrate proficiency in suturing wounds independently when required.
- Maintain accurate and thorough electronic medical records (EHR experience required).
- Navigate insurance authorizations and referrals as needed, ensuring compliance with Medi-Cal, HMO, and managed care policies.
Patient Care & Essential Functions
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in a primary care setting.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care.
- Collaborate with patients and families to develop individualized treatment plans and address health concerns.
- Flexible schedule – 3 days per week.
- Comfortable managing patients across all age groups, from children to geriatrics.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work closely with the supervising physician, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care.
- Foster a team-oriented environment, promoting professionalism, trust, and respect among colleagues.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Certification (Required):
- Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
- Active state PA license to practice.
- Current DEA license.
- NCCPA certification (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants).
Skills & Experience:
- Experience in primary care, internal medicine, and pediatrics.
- Ability to perform sutures and minor procedures independently.
- Proficiency with EHR systems.
- Bilingual in English and Vietnamese or English and Chinese (Required).
