Full Job Description

Full-time Physician Assistant needed to join our expanding practice. Prior experience with Orthopaedics , Spine Surgery and Interventional Pain Management preferred but not required. The position is a mix of office and surgical hours including the occasional rotating weekend hours. Essential Responsibilities

  • Provides a broad range of diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services including initial assessment and ongoing orthopaedic care
  • Works with considerable independence
  • Takes medical histories, examines and treats patients, orders and interprets laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging; formulating diagnoses and treatment plans and prescribing medications
  • Documents and records progress notes and notifies supervising physician of significant problems
  • Performs minor surgical procedures such as suturing, injections and fracture reduction and casting
  • Applies and orders DME and other medical devices as necessary
  • Assists physicians with major surgical procedures including joint replacements and spinal fusions
  • Performs all related duties as required

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

General Experience:

  • Must possess and maintain licensure as a Physician Assistant issued by the Connecticut State Department of Public Heath in accordance with the applicable Connecticut General Statutes.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

  • Must possess and maintain Connecticut Controlled Substance Registration for Practitioners issued by the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection.
  • Must possess and maintain United States Drug Enforcement Administration Registration issued by the United States Federal Government.
  • Must possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.

PREFERRED: Experience working with surgical/orthopedic patients.Job Type: Full-time
