Full Job Description
The Pulmonary department at Bryn Mawr Medical Specialists Association is looking for a full-time Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner to join their growing team. This person will work under the supervision of physicians to provide high-quality patient care. This person will play a crucial role in diagnosing and treating illnesses, performing medical procedures, and educating patients on preventive healthcare.
Responsibilities:
- Assists licensed Physicians in examining, diagnosing, and treating patients, including prescribing medications, preparing casts or splints, suturing small wounds, and interpreting medical tests
- Works closely with doctors in their day-to-day practice, including specialty practices, and bridges the gap between nurse and doctor
- Follows medical procedures, policies, and legal guidelines in treating a wide variety of patients, under the direct supervision of a licensed physician
- Uses modern electronic health record systems to record and track all dispensed treatments to patients, while staying compliant with laws and regulations
- Orders and interpret test results and recommend treatment of patients
- Prescribes therapy or medication with physician approval
- Administers therapeutic procedures
- Conducts complete physicals, provides treatment and counsels patients
- Provides care to patients
- Obtains patient history, conducts patient assessments, orders tests or scans, diagnoses illnesses, prescribes medicines and outlines and monitors courses of treatment
- Educates patients on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders or diseases
- Partners with physicians in the development of care plans, and advises physician in changes of patient status
- Assists patients in the management of chronic illnesses and promotes health and wellness. Monitors and ensures accuracy of patient medical records
Experience, Qualifications, and Education:
- Must performs work with a high degree of latitude
- Must possess expert knowledge of subject matter
- Requires a master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program, licensure/certification as a Physician Assistant, and 2 or more years of related experience
