Full Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) to join our team in an orthopedic surgery practice. The PA will work directly with a highly experienced orthopedic surgeon to provide comprehensive care to patients undergoing various orthopedic procedures. You will be part of a dynamic and supportive team, with an ascribed personal medical assistant available to assist with administrative tasks, helping you focus on patient care. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with top-notch professionals in a state-of-the-art facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the orthopedic surgeon in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care of patients.
  • Conduct patient assessments and physical examinations, reviewing patient histories and diagnostic results.
  • Assist in surgical procedures, both in the operating room and in outpatient settings.
  • Provide patient education on post-surgical care, rehabilitation, and lifestyle adjustments.
  • Manage pre and postoperative follow-up appointments, monitoring recovery progress, and making recommendations for additional treatments.
  • Administer injections, casts, and other non-surgical treatments as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Prescribe medications and assist in medication management under supervision of the orthopedic surgeon.
  • Participate in surgical procedures and emergency on-call duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current NJ state licensure as a Physician Assistant.
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in orthopedic surgery or a related field preferred, but new graduates with strong interest in orthopedics are welcome to apply.
  • Excellent clinical skills, including the ability to assess and treat a wide range of orthopedic conditions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

Additional Skills and Preferences:

  • Strong knowledge of orthopedic procedures, including joint replacements, fractures, and sports-related injuries.
  • Ability to perform procedures such as joint injections, aspirations, and splint/cast application.
  • Experience in assisting in minimally invasive surgeries and knowledge of modern surgical techniques.
  • BLS/ACLS certification.
