Job Title: Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant

Location: Milwaukee, WICompany: Grace Healthcare ProsJob Type: Contract

Job Summary:

The Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant (PA-C) will work alongside cardiothoracic surgeons, providing preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care for patients undergoing heart and lung procedures. This individual will assist in surgeries, manage patient care, and contribute to improved clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist cardiothoracic surgeons in open-heart, thoracic, and vascular procedures, including endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH).
  • Perform preoperative and postoperative patient evaluations.
  • First assist in surgery, including tissue retraction, suturing, and hemostasis.
  • Conduct rounds, monitor patient progress, and provide post-surgical care.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including imaging and lab results.
  • Develop and implement patient treatment plans in collaboration with the surgical team.
  • Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
  • Certification: NCCPA board certification required.
  • Licensure: Active or eligible for Wisconsin state PA licensure.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in cardiothoracic or cardiovascular surgery required.
  • Skills: Proficiency in endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH), suturing, and critical care management.
  • Strong clinical decision-making, teamwork, and communication skills.
