EmergeOrtho is a leading healthcare provider specializing in comprehensive orthopedic care. Our mission is to empower patients to improve their quality of life and regain independence following injury or surgery. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Orthopedic Advanced Practice Provider to join our multidisciplinary team and make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes. Located in the Triangle of North Carolina, our region employs a team of over 70 APPs across all service lines including orthopedics, orthopedic urgent care, pain management and rehabilitation, as well as bone health. We also offer in-house radiology services including x-ray and MRI, in addition to Physical and Occupational Therapy.

We are looking for a Full-time , 8 am to 5 pm, Monday-Friday, Ortho APP in our North/South region for our Total Joint service. The position has both clinic and OR responsibilities; intermittent travel between offices and urgent care coverage is required. The ideal candidate will be expected to practice to the full extent of their licensure in conjunction with their supervising physician to provide patients with high quality, evidence-based medical care. Excellent communication and documentation skills are a must along with the ability to collaborate with patients and their healthcare team. There is the opportunity to participate in QI and research studies, if interested. One year of experience is preferred but we are willing to train the right candidate. Graduation from an accredited PA/NP program along with an unrestricted North Carolina license is required .

We offer a competitive total compensation package including Base Salary, Sign-on Bonus, Rural Stipend, Quarterly Bonus, and CME Allowance as well as a generous PTO Accrual package starting at 208 hours of PTO per year plus 7 Paid Holidays. Qualifications and Experience

  • Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA)
  • Accreditation of Educational Programs in Surgical Assisting, approved by the American College of Surgeons (ACS)
  • Proficient in all pertinent abilities required during a procedure
  • Work independently, or codependently with the surgeon, to finalize the surgery, according to the surgeon preference
  • Strong ability to apply advanced knowledge of normal and pathological surgical anatomy and physiology

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following

  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate the surgeon’s preferences and specific patient’s needs to surgical team including but not limited to suture needs, specialty supplies and instrumentation, and equipment
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply advanced knowledge of normal and pathological surgical anatomy and physiology
  • Demonstrates the ability to provide preoperative skills such as assessing patient information, history, preoperative tests, safety measures, biopsy results, positioning and draping
  • Demonstrates competency in all positioning techniques for the surgeries they are participating in
  • Maintains knowledge of new or upgraded positioning equipment, supplies and positioning techniques through continuing education
  • Ensures skin prep will provide the necessary exposure for the surgical procedure, any possible drain sites and/or possible extension(s) of the operative incision, as well as surgeon preference
  • Utilizes the OR equipment pertinent to the surgical procedure
  • Utilizes appropriate suturing techniques, according to surgeon preference, with closure of body planes and utilizing proper manipulation of suture
  • Demonstrates the ability to provide postoperative skills in patient care such as dressing application, patient transfer and transport, transfer of care, and monitoring for immediate complications
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned by Manager, including schedule changes and travel to office locations as assigned
