Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)/Physician Assistant (PA) for Psychiatry/Mental Health Wellness Practice

Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant

We are currently looking for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our team for outpatient private practice work with scheduling flexibility, for a part-time or full-time position. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will be required to evaluate, develop, and treat adults and adolescents (12+). Provide continuous and comprehensive services either in office or via telemedicine necessary for optimal mental health, prevention, and treatment of psychiatric disorders and health maintenance to patients in an outpatient facility setting. This includes the assessment, diagnosis, and medication management of mental health problems and psychiatric disorders. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant shall work collaboratively with other medical and mental health providers.

Supervision – Medical oversight provided through practice agreement with collaborating Physician/Psychiatrist.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:

Patient Care Management/Documentation

  • Provide excellent top quality patient focused care in an empathetic and supportive treatment environment
  • Work with a diverse patient population providing comprehensive patient evaluations to determine a differential diagnosis and plan for intervention that adheres to an ethical medication management practice.
  • Adhere to standards via identified text and/or via office practice standard protocols.
  • Maintain confidentiality and patient privacy.
  • Document care provided; meeting standards for chart reviews.
  • Demonstrates expertise in a variety of treatment methodologies.
  • Proper use of counseling techniques, interpersonal communication, interview techniques, conflict resolutions.
  • Provides appropriate and timely documentation of clinical encounters.
  • Adheres to all mandated guidelines for patient’s clinical care and license.
  • Renders appropriate guidance & therapy.
  • Complies with organizational, departmental, state/federal guidelines & all regulatory agency policies and procedures.

Consultation and Referral

  • Seek consultations as appropriate.
  • Facilitate the process of ethical decision making as appropriate.

Patient Education

  • Utilize teaching-learning theory with patients and their families to influence patient outcomes.

Communication/Citizenship

  • Identify system-specific problems, which require an evaluation and/or change; work with appropriate staff to resolve these issues by participating in performance improvement processes.
  • Takes an active role to contribute to the improvement of office functioning.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have previous speciality specific Psychiatry experience and experience using mood stabilizers and antipsychotics
  • Ability to communicate clearly both in writing and verbally with health care team members and families.
  • Ability to function independently with regards to most clinical decision making.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Must be attentive and tactful.
  • Ability to utilize/access computer an electronic medical records (EMR) system to document patient charts.
  • Performs other tasks as required for patient care and efficient functioning of the business.

Minimum Qualifications:ExperienceAt least one (1) year of post-graduate experience in a behavioral health setting providing psychiatry or mental health treatment specifically required. No other specialty experience will qualify.

EducationMaster’s degree from an accredited Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program/Physician Assistant.

License, Certification, Registration

  • All candidates must have a valid and current CA NP license required without any disciplinary action(s).
  • Candidate must hold a valid degree from an accredited institution.
  • Candidate must have a valid California DEA registration

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $80.00 – $90.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
