What will you be doing:

The Physician Assistant – Orthopedic Surgery at Cedars-Sinai is an outstanding opportunity to contribute to a team that is committed to providing exceptional, world-class care. You will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care and surgical excellence.

  • Provide pre- and post-op assessments of patients and surgical assistance in the Operating Room.
  • Promote and maintain patient health by providing medical services under the supervision of a Supervising Physician.
  • Assess patient health by interviewing patients, performing physical examinations, acquiring, updating, and studying medical histories in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Analyze and coordinate the care of clinically complex patients, including socio-cultural, cognitive, functional, nutritional, and educational evaluations.

Keep doctors informed of changes in care plans and patient status, ensuring the hospital stay is a positive experience. Be accessible to answer questions and patient concerns promptly, and refer to case management and other healthcare providers as necessary.
  • Collaborate with a mixed team (Attending/residents) to implement patient care plans, applying evidence-based tools and therapies for improved outcomes and shorter hospital stays.
  • Detail clear and concise histories and physicals for consults, follow-ups, interactions with patients, discharge summaries, and letters. Ensure all details contain necessary information to detail the care plan and ensure continuity of care.
  • Coordinate MD referrals to various departments when appropriate. Ensure baseline assessments on both ICU and non-monitored bed patients to prevent postoperative complications and decrease morbidity.
  • Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to identify and manage patient diagnoses per physician assistant scope.
  • Communicate and guide staff in structuring and relaying information about patients in a clear and detailed manner, always respectful towards both patients and colleagues. Apply SBAR, read back for telephone orders or critical test results, and avoid unauthorized abbreviations.
