The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner is responsible for planning and directing the delivery of primary heath care and health education programs in association with Methodist Healthcare Primary Care Associates (MHPCA). The incumbent will provide care and health education for patients and their family. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

A Brief Overview The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for planning and directing the delivery of primary heath care and health education programs in association with Methodist Healthcare Primary Care Associates (MHPCA). The incumbent will provide care and health education for patients and their family. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values. What you will do

  • Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients in the assigned center according to approved protocol and acceptable standards.
  • Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to written, approved protocols developed with and under the supervision of the Medical Director/collaborating Physician. Participates in the design and revision of protocols.
  • Collaborates with Medical Physician and ancillary personnel as appropriate to promote quality care for patients. Makes referrals as appropriate.
  • Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care.
  • Understands, applies and supports practice policies, procedures, goals and standards.
  • Develops strong partnership with patients, family members, fellow physicians/nurses and support staff. Focuses on high patient and family satisfaction and retention.

  • Master’s Degree Advanced Practice Nursing
  • Master’s Degree Nursing
  • Doctorate Advanced Practice Nursing

Work Experience Requirements

  • 3-5 years General nursing or clinical practice

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in applying advanced concepts, principles, and professional techniques in a specialized field of nursing.
  • Current DEA number (if required by facility).

Supervision Provided by this Position

  • There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this position.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
  • Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
  • Exposure to excessive heat or cold as required.
  • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
  • May require handling or administering of narcotics.
  • Ability to read and write to communicate orally and in writing with other individuals.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to sit in one place, stand, walk, squat, kneel, reach, twist, crawl, and bend.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motion, as well as using hands for gripping and squeezing.
  • Ability to use hands and feet together for repetitive coordinated motions.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
