Your Impact
As a Physician Assistant (PA) in Wound Care, you will play a critical role in delivering expert, field-based care, helping patients heal, and setting new standards in wound management. This position is ideal for a highly skilled and adaptable clinician who thrives in autonomous, patient-focused environments while embracing innovation and collaboration.
What You’ll Do
✔ Deliver Specialized Wound Care – Assess, diagnose, and manage chronic and complex wounds; perform debridement, Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT), tissue biopsies, and oversee gastrostomy tube management.
✔ Optimize Patient Outcomes – Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based practices and AI-driven diagnostics.
✔ Educate & Advocate – Provide education to patients, caregivers, and facility staff on wound care protocols, recovery strategies, and preventive measures.
✔ Document with Precision – Ensure clear, timely, and compliant documentation in electronic health records (EHR) to streamline patient care.
✔ Drive Clinical Innovation – Leverage AI-powered tools and telehealth solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy, and patient outcomes.
✔ Adapt & Excel in the Field – Travel daily within your region (50–70 miles) to multiple care sites, adapting to diverse healthcare settings and patient needs.
✔ Contribute Beyond the Expected – Participate in process improvements, research, training initiatives, and perform other duties as assigned to support clinical and operational excellence.

What You Need
Required:
-
Active, unrestricted Texas Physician Assistant license.
-
Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Proficiency in wound care procedures, including debridement, NPWT, and gastrostomy tube management.

Reliable transportation and a valid Texas driver’s license for regional travel.
Preferred/Advantageous:

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.

Wound Care Certification (WCC, CWS) or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Experience in geriatric care, internal medicine, emergency medicine, or home health.

Proficiency with EHR systems, telemedicine, and AI-driven clinical tools.
Regulatory Compliance
In Texas, Physician Assistants must practice under a supervising physician in accordance with the Texas Medical Board (TMB) regulations. Supervision must be continuous but does not require the constant physical presence of the physician.
Prescriptive Authority: PAs in Texas may prescribe medications, including controlled substances, under a Prescriptive Authority Agreement (PAA) with a supervising physician. This written agreement must outline:

Regular quality assurance reviews.

Compliance with Texas Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) regulations.
Scope of Practice: PAs must provide medical care within the scope outlined in the PAA and in alignment with TMB guidelines.
