Full Job Description
The Nurse Practitioner/ Physician Assistant (NP/PA) will provide comprehensive care to patients with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and similar conditions. The NP/PA will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including external stakeholders to deliver evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, and treatment, facilitating optimal patient outcomes. This role involves managing acute and chronic conditions, conducting patient and family education, participating in clinical research, and developing and maintaining positive relationships with referral sources and payers.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Completion of a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program with a focus on adult or family practice.
- Licensure and Certification:
- Licensed as a NP or PA with the State of California
- BLS and ACLS certification required
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment and Diagnosis:
- Conduct comprehensive physical assessments of patients with Ehlers-Danlos and other conditions.
- Review and interpret diagnostic tests, including CT and MRI scans, to determine the extent of conditions.
- Develop differential diagnoses and collaborate with the healthcare team to establish appropriate treatment plans.
- Treatment and Management:
- Initiate and mange treatment protocols for acute and chronic patients, including medication management and therapeutic interventions.
- Perform necessary interventions within their scope of practice.
- Monitor patients for signs of complications and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Patient and Family Education:
- Educate patients and their families about treatment options, recovery processes, and rehabilitation.
- Provide guidance on lifestyle modifications and coping strategies to enhance recovery.
- Educate staff and peers on patient care management commensurate with their scope of practive
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with other members of the healthcare team and external stakeholders to facilitate coordinated patient care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and care conferences to discuss patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Research and Quality Improvement:
- Engage in clinical research elated to traumatic brain injury and contribute to the development of evidence-based practices.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessment, treatments, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Completion of a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program with a focus on adult or family practice.
- Licensure and Certification:
- Licensed as a NP or PA with the State of California
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Experience:
- Previous experience as a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant preferred, but not required.

Range: $75-$85 per hour
