The Director of the Physician Assistant Program is responsible for the development and management of the curriculum for the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. This role also includes leading the program through the initial and ongoing accreditation processes with the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). Responsibilities further include establishing clinical sites, recruiting and managing faculty and staff, and ensuring continuous program assessment and compliance with accreditation standards.
Additionally, the Director will collaborate with the Admissions and Marketing & Communications teams to attract and recruit students to the program. This position works closely with the leadership team of the Cummings School of Nursing & Health Sciences and partners with the Associate Dean of Nursing & Health Sciences on accreditation and assessment initiatives. The Director reports directly to the Dean of the Cummings School of Nursing & Health Sciences.
Qualifications include:
- Must be a Physician Assistant holding current or emeritus certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Must have a minimum of three years of full-time higher education experience at the time of appointment and three years of health care experience
- Commitment to inclusive education and developing cultural competencies among graduate students with a lens toward social justice education
- Must have experience with accreditation
- Academic rank will be commensurate with experience
