JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting the physicians in the management of patients and perform diagnostic, therapeutic and intraoperative procedures under the supervision of the physician. To work closely with and assist the physician in providing quality, efficient and cost-effective care during the patient’s hospitalization. To ensure continuity between clinical practice and standards of care as well as promote and aid in patient preparation for procedures progressing towards discharge. To work collaboratively with physicians, nurses and case managers and other healthcare disciplines utilizing a team approach. Knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring of, and compliance of all regulatory and licensing agencies including but not limited to JCAHO, OSHA, ACHA, CMS, etc.
CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the hospital. Works with supervisor/manager and other members of section or department to promote a harmonious work environment. Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner. Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Works with customers to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.
DEGREES:
Associates Licenses & Certifications: NCCPA Certified Physician Assistant Drug Enforcement Administration Physician Assistant Additional
QUALIFICATIONS:
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):
- Graduate of a program approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health education programs for Physician
- Assistants (CAAHEP)
- Certified or eligible by NCCPA preferred
- Current FL PA Licensure with prescribing number
- Current AHA BLS Certification
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in advanced practice with specialty in clinical setting
- Must be able to function as a resource for clinical areas throughout the hospital
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that enhance team functioning
- Demonstrates flexibility, sound judgment and adaptability in decision-making, problem solving and team building
