Full Job Description

Regional One Health is currently seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for our Plastics Clinic downtown.

A Brief Overview The Advanced Practice Provider performs health care assessments, diagnosis, treatment, pre- and post-operative care, and provides instruction on follow-up care for patients and family care while following established protocols. Responsible for daily coordination and facilitation to provide optimal patient care including patient education, patient assessment, and follow-up. What you will do

  • Functions as the primary health care provider for Burn/Plastics patients. Obtains a health history and performs a physical exam in order to determine a diagnosis and treatment plan in accordance with established standards, procedures and practices. Requisitions laboratory tests and x-ray exams when appropriate. Performs and/or directs appropriate wound care. • Advises and counsels patients and/or others concerning pre-operative and post-operative management, specific medical issues, health maintenance activities and preventative behaviors. • Coordinates and schedule operative procedures for patients.
  • Assesses, treats and manages specific medical illnesses and conditions according to medical regime utilizing established protocols.
  • Consults and works collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers in compliance with iRESPECT standards to coordinate and implement activities, promote patient/customer satisfaction and to develop an effective treatment plan. May also see consults to assist residents, when necessary.
  • Provides referrals for hospitalization, test, therapies or specialty consultations.
  • Performs minor procedures and non-invasive cosmetic procedures in the office under the direction and supervision of a physician.
  • Provides for continuity of effective patient and family care by exchanging information and cooperating with other community health/social service agencies, hospitals and health care providers.
  • Develops and implements plans for teaching/counseling individuals, families and groups in various settings.
  • Assists in the orientation and oversees the supervision of new staff members and students when they provide patient care, treatment and services as part of their training. • Participates in the education of PA/NP students, medical students, residents, and fellows within the Burn/Plastics department.
  • Documents and updates medical and patient charts. Prepares and maintain required records, reports, statistics and files. • Ensures patient care activities are updated and documented according to hospital policies and procedures. • Ensures charges are documented on unit capture sheet and forwarded to proper location/staff for entry into billing system. • Ensures all appropriate charts are signed by the physician before releasing to the medical records department. • Ensures all charts are signed by physician before releasing to medical record department. • Maintains active credentialing by medical staff.
  • Demonstrates responsibility of professional practice through active participation in departmental education and continuing medical education.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant program Required
  • APRN-BC – Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Board Certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse certification or registry eligible required or certification as Physician Assistant in State of TN Upon hire.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required
  • NPs require a minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • PA or NP experience preferred.
  • Experience with minor procedures and non-invasive cosmetic procedures are preferred.
