SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

To provide primary health care to Vanguard Medical Corporation’ patients, including education, preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures. To provide screening and triage of walk-in patients, provide health maintenance screening for children, pregnant patients, and adults, acute care for walk in patients, care for patients with chronic or stable conditions as deemed necessary. To participate in the planning and management of health services of the VMC, as deemed necessary by the CEO. This is to include participation in review of the quality care being rendered at VMC, the development of health care protocols and procedures, and the participation in the policy making within the Medical Department.

LIMITATIONS OF AUTHORITY:

Physician Assistants are not to independently alter the range, or the type of health care services offered by VMC, without prior approval of the Chief Medical Officer. Physician’s Assistants are not to exercise independent medical judgment which is beyond their training, skills, and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Current Certifications, Current California Medical License, Current BLS Certification, Current DEA Certification. Neat personal appearance, good physical and mental health, Bilingual for spoken English and Spanish preferred.

Experienced physician assistants (particularly those who have worked in Health Centers) and those Physician Assistant’s who have completed family practice training are preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to clients and staff. Ability to sit at a desk or computer terminal for 2-4 hours daily. Ability to stand/walk for 2-8 hours per day. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works closely with patients, physicians and co-workers. Interacts with allied departments, i.e., X-ray, Lab. Stress level is high. The potential exists for handling hazardous and/or infectious material, therefore, good judgment is necessary at all times. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a health care environment.

Pay: $75.00 – $90.00 per hour
