Job Title: Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
Reports to: Medical Director Status: Full-Time, Exempt
The Advanced Practice Provider will be expected to evaluate, diagnose and treat a wide range of primarily acute health conditions, as well as promote good health practices. Our ideal candidate will have Urgent Care or Emergency Medicine experience. Exceptional candidates with differing experience may be considered. Job Responsibilities:
- Interview and examine patients to evaluate their acute conditions
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests (blood tests, EKGs, culture results, X-rays etc.)
- Diagnose acute health conditions and illnesses
- Propose treatments for acute and subacute conditions
- Ordering and overseeing treatments
- Prescribe medications, durable medical equipment, or therapies
- Perform acute-care procedures (wound care, I&D, minor ortho, FB removal, etc)
- Clearly document and articulate patient visits in a medically and legal sound manner
- Maintain accurate records and schedules
- Educating and participating in shared-decision making with patients regarding their condition and treatment options
- Promote good health practices
- Advance professional knowledge through education opportunities and self study
- Collaboration with other health-professionals to optimize patient care
- Occasionally referring or transferring patients for additional or higher level of care.
- Emergency management skills
- Other duties as assigned
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program
- Prefer 1-year or more experience as a provider in a clinic, hospital, ER, or other setting
- Current National Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license in good standing
- Must possess a Medical License through the State of New Mexico
- BLS, ACLS, PALS required, but can be completed after hire if not up-to-date
- DEA license
- NM State Board of Pharmacy: Controlled Substance License
- Ability to obtain malpractice insurance (to be provided by Duke City Cares)
Physical Demands Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work

Compensation:
- Providers are paid on a shift-pay model for the shifts worked, regardless of FTE status
- Base pay is determined by clinician-level experience with, opportunity for increases based on productivity and quality
- Productivity bonus is offered quarterly
CME – Continuing Medical Education Reimbursement:
- Advanced Practice Providers are eligible for up to $2,000 for CME and license reimbursement annually, prorated for FTE status.
Job Type Openings:
- Full-time (average 130hr minimum/month, approximately 13-14shifts/mo)
- Part-time (6-8 shifts/month) and PRN (0-4 shifts/month, as available) – Only available if 1 or more years of acute-care provider experience.
- All positions are required to work some weekend shifts and be scheduled for 1-2 on-call shifts per month

At DCUC, we believe that in order to provide excellent and efficient patient care, our clinicians must be provided with the necessary support to achieve superior levels of quality, efficiency, and customer service when treating all patients. We undergird our team of clinicians with several support and quality mechanisms, including:
- Medical Director on-call: available to you for questions, consultation, or assistance, 7days/wk.
- DCUC hosted formal education sessions (approved Category 1 CME credit), typically twice per month focusing on interesting cases, guest speakers, updated recommendations, recent trends, and more.
- Clinical Treatment Guidelines – An evidence-based summary of recommendations for “bread and butter” urgent care conditions. This is a quick reference document (currently 100+ pages) and includes organizational and regional preferences and sets the standard for the quality of care we aim to practice.
- Chart Review – every provider will be part of a clinic- team with an administrative provider-manager. This manager, along with the Medical Director, performs in-depth chart review regularly to help identify areas of strength, along with opportunities for improvement in an effort to promote an excellent standard of care, accurate coding practices, and recognition for quality of care provided.
