Job Overview
The College of Medicine, Department of Surgery, is looking for a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APP). The APP will assist in providing comprehensive, continuous, and personalized care to patients of the Division of Surgical Oncology, in the area of Breast Surgery. The candidate will interact closely with a large multi-disciplinary group including surgeons, physicians, pharmacists, dietitians, nurse coordinators, nurses, trainees (fellows, residents, and medical students), as well as consulting services across the medical center and the region. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, well organized, adaptable, and an excellent communicator with willingness and ability to provide continuity across transitions of care.
Essential Functions
- Take patient history, conduct physical examinations, and record the data in the patient’s record; write progress notes and narrative discharge summaries; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
- Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
- Train new personnel.
- Participate in teaching medical students, residents, fellows, physician assistant students, nurse practitioner students, and pharmacy students in techniques and procedures which are unique to specific clinical setting.
- Demonstrate excellent organization and time management skills and excellent interpersonal skills with patients, families and health care workers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Nurse Practitioner:
Required Education A master’s degree in nursing and graduation from an ANA approved Nurse Practitioner Program. Required Trainings/Certifications Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority. Required Experience Three (3) years nursing experience.

Physician Assistant:
Required Education Graduation from a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessor agencies Required Trainings/Certifications
- Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Active Ohio Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority.
Required Experience Minimum of one (1) year experience is required.
Additional Qualifications Considered
- Nurse Practitioner: Two (2) years of clinical experience.
- Physician Assistant: Two (2) years of clinical experience.
