The Mass General Brigham Medical Group is a system-led operating entity formed by Mass General Brigham to deliver high quality, low cost, innovative community-based ambulatory care. This work stems from Mass General Brigham’s unified system strategy to bring health care closer to patients while lowering total health care costs. The Medical Group provides a wide range of offerings, including primary care, specialty care, behavioral and mental health, and urgent care, both digitally as well as at physical locations in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. The group also offers outpatient surgery and endoscopy, imaging, cardiac testing, and infusion. We share the commitment to delivering a coordinated and comprehensive experience across all locations, ensuring the appropriate level of care is available to every patient across our care delivery sites. We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Physician Assistant to support our practice located at 40 Main Street, Suite 202, Florence, MA 01062. This PA will spend up to two days per week in the operating room at Cooley Dickinson Hospital (7:30 AM to 5:00 PM) and the rest of the week in clinic (8:30 AM to 5:00 PM). Cooley Dickinson Medical Group Plastic Surgery (formerly Northampton Plastic Surgery) is committed to restoring and enhancing form and function in the least invasive way possible. Our experienced surgeons partner with each patient to advance their health by developing a personalized plan, one that carefully considers health, well-being and lifestyle. We offer our patients everything from cosmetic enhancements, post cancer surgery reconstructive work, bariatric surgeries, repairs to facial fractures, and various surgeries related to injury or birth defects.
Job Summary
Summary<br>The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. May also perform additional duties, such as precepting a small group of learners. <br><br>Does this position require Patient Care?<br>Yes<br><br>Essential Functions<br>-Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting. <br>
- Performs complete histories and physical examinations. <br>
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests. <br>
- Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings. <br>
- Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures. <br>
- Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries. <br>
- Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population. <br>
Qualifications
- Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
