Full Job Description
The nurse practitioner manages all aspects of the patients care as pertains to comprehensive assessment, ordering, and overseeing the management of conventional chemotherapy and support of clinical services. It is important that a friendly, caring, courteous, and professional attitude is displayed at all times as this person has front-line contact with patients and families.
Duties and responsibilities
- Provide collaborative comprehensive care to oncology patients. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for patients specific needs
- Assesses data reflective of the patients status and appropriately interprets information relative to the patients needs. Initiates and documents appropriate interactions with patients and consulting physicians. Coordinates patient care and complete of documentation in a timely manner according to company policy
- Provides Education to meet patient/family needs
- Assists physicians and performs procedures as needed
- Ability to order and interpret diagnostic test
- Evaluates laboratory results and prepares for change of treatment based on laboratory results
- Develop and implement treatment plans. Assist with clinical staff education
- Prescribe and dispense medication in accordance with state and federal regulations
- Document subjective and objective findings in electronic health records
- Monitor and assess effectiveness of therapeutic therapies
- Knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements
- Serve as Education & Drug Information resource to patients, billing personnel, and clinical staff
- Communicates well with patients, medical staff, and co-workers; maintains an environment of caring, concern, and support
- Possesses ability to manage multiple patient treatments in a fast paced environment
- Keeps the Director of Clinical Services informed of any significant information and/or patient issues
- Manage after hours care, including weekend and evenings as requested by supervising physician
- Communicate verbally either in person or by phone or text to the supervising physician to optimize patient care
- Electronic health record documentation to be completed within 24 hours of the patient visit
- Performs other duties/special projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Education Requirements
- Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program. Must have a certification as a nurse practitioner by an approved certifying organization
- Good knowledge of medicine as related to medical examination, health history, the development of working diagnoses, and other areas as appropriate to the specific service provided
- Oncology Certified Nurse certification (OCN)
- Minimum 2 years oncology experience as a NP
- Computer experience with EMR knowledge
- Excellent work ethic, including integrity, positive attitude, productive, organized, treats leadership with respect, excellent attendance, continuously learning and willing to ask for help
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a detail oriented, fast-paced setting
Licensure/Certification
Must have a certification as a nurse practitioner by an approved certifying organization
Must have Advanced Practice Certificate
Must have active BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Must have Prescribing and Dispensing Certificate in AZ
Oncology Certified Nurse Certification (OCN)

Daily uses of hands to type, file, and write/sign documents
Minimum lifting requirements of 25 pounds in order to transfer equipment, help patients with positioning, and pack/unpack supplies
Frequent bending, twisting, and position changes in order to assist patients
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 – $125,000.00 per year
