Job OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and dedicated Surgical Physician Assistant to join our orthopedic practice. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience, an understanding of fluoroscopy, and the ability to assist with procedures involving all major joints, including knees, shoulders, hips, elbows, and hands. This role requires flexibility, excellent bedside manners, and the ability to provide comprehensive patient care in both surgical and office settings.
Duties
- Assist orthopedic surgeons during surgical procedures, with an understanding of fluoroscopy and relevant surgical techniques.
- Provide pre- and post-operative patient care, including wound management, dressing changes, and patient education.
- Evaluate and manage patients in the office setting, particularly when the physicians are unavailable, ensuring high-quality care and patient satisfaction.
- Take thorough and detailed notes during patient encounters, providing accurate feedback to physicians.
- Conduct physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans under the supervision of a physician.
- Demonstrate proficiency in working with various electronic health record (EHR) systems to document patient information accurately and efficiently.
- Collaborate with the office team to ensure smooth patient workflow and address patient inquiries.
- Maintain knowledge of out-of-network insurance and self-pay processes to assist patients and streamline billing procedures.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with advancements in orthopedic care and surgical techniques.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program in the U.S.
- Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Valid state licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a PA, preferably in orthopedic or surgical settings.
- Understanding of fluoroscopy and its application in surgical procedures.
- Comfortable assisting with surgeries involving all major joints.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to compassionate patient care.
- Proficient in using various EHR systems and adaptable to new technologies.
- Familiarity with out-of-network insurance and self-pay processes is preferred.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
