Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner
Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner on the Beautiful Central Coast of California
Location: San Luis Obispo, CA County

Position Summary:
Live in a community named “Happiest City in America” while working in an established and growing Wound Care and Hyperbaric clinic. We are looking for a PA or NP to join our team leading the way in wound care to the county and surrounding areas.
We will consider part-time candidates, however prefer someone who would intend on making a long-term investment in growing the practice. Expect applicant to have excellent patient manners, and perform full spectrum diagnoses and treatment for Wound Care with focus on Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.
Prefer experience, however, willing to train within our office.
No nights, weekends, travel or administrative workload.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Physicians
JOB SUMMARY: Provides professional patient care in vein/vascular office setting.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- PA or NP degree required
- Current licensure maintained
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least two years of experience in a physician office or hospital
- Ability to make independent decisions about patient care
- Experience diagnosing and treating patients
- Preferable experience with needle/cosmetic procedures and/or ability to develop skills
- Working knowledge of managed care basics, and experience working with a managed care and Medicare population
- Comfortable using email and interacting with Internet applications
- Knowledge of practice management electronic medical record software
- Pleasant speaking voice and demeanor
- Good communication skills
- Neat, professional appearance
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Office Responsibilities
- Prepares patients for exam or treatment by taking a history and blood pressure, then recording the information in the patient’s chart
- Confers with ultrasound technician about new patient findings, potential diagnosis and treatment before they see each patient
- Takes patient history, and records the information in the patient’s chart documents according to CPT E/M requirements.
- Performs procedures as needed
- Develops own practice and coordinates appointment scheduling templates with the office manager
- Prescribes compression stockings or medication as needed.
- Formulates and updates patient care plans; consults with physicians as needed
- Orders tests, CT scans, and MRIs
- Performs patient education duties; hands out brochures, and directs patients to specific Internet sites for more information
Telephone and Administrative
- Returns patient phone messages throughout the day; documents action taken in patient chart
- Triages incoming telephone calls; instructs patient and family regarding treatment instruction, then documents action taken in patient chart
- Telephones prescription requests to pharmacy; documents action in patient chart and obtains physician signature of approval
- Oversees appointment bookings and ensures patients emergent with conditions are scheduled appropriately; maintains timely flow of patients
Other
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations
- Conducts educational seminars for patients, employers, and others
- Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice
- Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job functions
- Performs all other tasks and projects assigned by the physicians
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Typical Physical Demands
Position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, as well as manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking. Employee will occasionally be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds. Normal visual acuity and hearing are required. Employee will work under stressful conditions, and work irregular hours. Employee will be exposed to bodily fluids on a regular basis.
Typical Working Conditions
Employee will have frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $70.00 – $80.00 per hour
