Modena Allergy and Asthma is a leading medical practice specializing in allergy, asthma, and immunology care, serving patients across Southern California. Our team is dedicated to improving lives by diagnosing and treating a wide range of allergy and asthma conditions among pediatric and adult patients.

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Allergy and Asthma Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our dynamic team in the Long Beach and Torrance offices. If you are passionate about patient care and have expertise in allergy and asthma management, we would love to hear from you. 

Position Summary:

As an Allergy and Asthma NP/PA, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care, performing assessments, diagnosing, and managing the treatment of patients with allergic conditions, such as allergic rhinitis, asthma, eczema, food allergy, amongst others. You will work collaboratively with our physicians, nurses, and support staff to provide comprehensive, high-quality care tailored to each patient’s needs.

The ideal candidate must be a self-motivated and eager individual who will establish him/herself in a practice that enjoys continuous growth. Must have excellent communication skills, bedside manner, and a strong work ethic with a desire to be part of a team that is committed to caring for the whole patient. We place special emphasis on providing patient-centered care, quality outcomes and patient satisfaction.

Experience in allergy, immunology and asthma, while not required, would be preferred. Candidate will be required to split time between our Long Beach and Torrance, CA offices.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients with allergic conditions, asthma, immunologic and respiratory disorders.
  • Supervise in-office oral food challenges, drug challenges, and immunotherapy treatments (oral immunotherapy and sublingual immunotherapy for environmental and food allergy)
  • Perform physical exams, take medical histories, and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., skin tests, pulmonary function tests)
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and medical history, including:
  • Starting allergy immunotherapy for environmental allergies
  • Starting oral immunotherapy for food allergy
  • Recommending food or drug challenges as part of allergy evaluation
  • Prescribe medications, treatments, and recommend lifestyle modifications to manage conditions.
  • Provide education to patients and their families on asthma and allergy management, medication use, triggers, and prevention strategies.
  • Monitor patients’ progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Managing OIT (oral immunotherapy) patients including rotating OIT call among the other advanced practice providers
  • Treatment and management of in-office allergic reactions (to immunotherapy, challenges), under the supervision of a physician

Collaborative Care:

  • Work closely with allergists, pulmonologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
  • Assist in performing office procedures such as allergy testing and desensitization therapies.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient care decisions.

Clinical Leadership:

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to nursing and clinical staff.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices in allergy and asthma management.
  • Educate patients on new treatments and interventions, ensuring they are well-informed.

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and practice protocols.
  • Assist with the coordination of follow-up care and referrals to specialists when needed.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or another recognized certifying body.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a NP/PA, with a strong preference for experience in allergy and asthma care, respiratory conditions, or pulmonology.
  • Experience in pediatric and adult care is preferred but not required.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Current California Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant License.
  • Current California Registered Nurse License.
  • Active DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification is a plus.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to diagnose and manage complex conditions.
  • Ability to start IVs and knowledge of IV infusions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and empower patients.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 – $135,000.00 per year
