TITLE: Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant

Position Summary: The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is a full-time medical professional who assists the OB and GYN physicians by seeing scheduled patients in the office four days per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs a complete physical exam, obtains complete medical history and records findings. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Interprets and integrates data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan.
- Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients. Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits. Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
- Reviews lab tests and notify patients.
- Posts test and examination results via the Women First patient portal.
- Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Utilizes prescriptive privileges as allowed by the Kentucky Board of Nursing or the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure.
- Documents all prescriptions in patient medical records.
- Assesses patient for change in status and institutes appropriate interventions.
- May assist, when needed, with rounding on ante-partum, post- partum and post-operative patients regardless of whether or not the patient is being discharged.
- May assist, when needed, in weekly on-call duties to assist the designated on-call OB physician.
- Attends required meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge Requirements

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task and to prioritize.
- Must be team oriented with strong positive approach towards both internal and external customers.
- Knowledge of theories of family dynamics, mother-child attachment, parenting and adult learning concepts.
- Physical Demands/Working Conditions
- Clinical practice, office hours, Hospital based female care.
- Frequent use of keyboard, computer and telephone.
- Prolonged standing and walking with the ability to move or lift at least 50 pounds.
Education and Experience
- APRN or PA-C
- Graduate of accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program
- RN licensure and Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in the state of Kentucky
- Prior experience in OBGYN environment preferred
- Experience working with vulvovaginitis patients preferred
- Experience with Weight Management a plus
- Current BLS certification
