Patient Assessment and Diagnosis

Job Title: Mental Health Physician AssistantEmployment Type: Full-TimeLocation: Savannah and Pooler

Position OverviewWe are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Physician Assistant (PA) to join our behavioral health team. The PA will work collaboratively with psychiatrists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive mental health care to patients. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals with mental health disorders, with a focus on improving patients’ overall well-being and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations, including medical history, psychiatric history, and psychosocial assessments.
  • Diagnose and manage mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and others.

Treatment Planning and Management

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Prescribe medications and adjust treatment regimens as necessary, under state regulations.
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans to achieve optimal outcomes.

Collaboration and Coordination

  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and other specialists to ensure continuity of care.
  • Coordinate care with external providers, social services, and community resources as needed.

Documentation and Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA and other patient confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
  • Current Georgia licensure as a Physician Assistant.
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • 2-years of experience in mental health, psychiatry or similar field preferred, but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric medications and their management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in mental health care.

Work Schedule

  • Full-time, approximately 36 hours per week.
