Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified DOT/FMCSA certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to conduct Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examinations for commercial drivers. This is a part-time position with flexible hours, requiring a minimum of 10 hours per week, with potential for more as needed.

The ideal candidate will be current on all state and DOT-required certifications and have a strong understanding of FMCSA regulations and guidelines. This is a great opportunity for a healthcare professional seeking flexibility while contributing to the safety of the transportation industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct DOT physical exams for commercial vehicle drivers, ensuring compliance with FMCSA standards.
  • Complete and sign DOT medical certification forms (MCSA-5876) and maintain accurate documentation of exams.
  • Review patient history and physicals to determine medical qualifications for drivers.
  • Identify potential health risks and recommend further evaluation or restrictions, as necessary.
  • Provide clear communication and guidance to drivers regarding their medical status.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations and guidelines.
  • Work closely with the office team to ensure proper record-keeping and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Current, unrestricted certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) in [State].
  • Valid DOT/FMCSA certification for performing DOT physical exams (must be up-to-date).
  • Experience in conducting DOT exams or similar physical examinations preferred.
  • Strong understanding of FMCSA medical standards and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work a minimum of 10 hours per week, with flexibility in scheduling.
