Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified DOT/FMCSA certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to conduct Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examinations for commercial drivers. This is a part-time position with flexible hours, requiring a minimum of 10 hours per week, with potential for more as needed.
The ideal candidate will be current on all state and DOT-required certifications and have a strong understanding of FMCSA regulations and guidelines. This is a great opportunity for a healthcare professional seeking flexibility while contributing to the safety of the transportation industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct DOT physical exams for commercial vehicle drivers, ensuring compliance with FMCSA standards.
- Complete and sign DOT medical certification forms (MCSA-5876) and maintain accurate documentation of exams.
- Review patient history and physicals to determine medical qualifications for drivers.
- Identify potential health risks and recommend further evaluation or restrictions, as necessary.
- Provide clear communication and guidance to drivers regarding their medical status.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations and guidelines.
- Work closely with the office team to ensure proper record-keeping and compliance with state and federal regulations.
Qualifications:
- Current, unrestricted certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) in [State].
- Valid DOT/FMCSA certification for performing DOT physical exams (must be up-to-date).
- Experience in conducting DOT exams or similar physical examinations preferred.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA medical standards and regulations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Willingness to work a minimum of 10 hours per week, with flexibility in scheduling.
