Principal Duties Collaborating with their Supervising Physician, the Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practioner (NP) will participate in the care within our clinical programs, including Reproductive Health Services, Family Practice, Prenatal, and Pediatrics. Working closely with the Medical Director, the PA/NP will help develop, organize, and implement medical aspects of our clinical services programs.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Patient Care:

  • Perform advanced diagnostic tests including EKGs and echocardiograms under supervision.
  • Conduct physical assessments, administer prescribed treatments, and dispense medications.
  • Review and interpret laboratory findings and follow up accordingly.
  • Provide surveillance of medical regimens and adjust as needed, referring complex cases to the Supervising Physician.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on managing medical conditions and preventive care.

Clinical Support:

  • Participate in the development and implementation of innovative care models.
  • Participate in quarterly educational workshops for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
  • Actively participate in Quality Assurance and Safety Programs.
  • Collaborate in interdisciplinary team meetings to integrate medical expertise with behavioral health and social services.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Accurately document patient findings, instructions, education, and services rendered.
  • Collaborate with other health agencies and families during care transitions.
  • Provide initial care for emergencies and arrange for continuing definitive care.
  • Follow the protocols, policies, and procedures provided.

Clinical Competence: Ability to provide age-appropriate care from infants to older adults.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.

Problem Solving: Strong decision-making and critical thinking abilities.

Customer Service: Approach problem-solving with a strong customer service focus.

Adaptability: Ability to prioritize work, follow procedures, and adapt to changes.

General Agency Duties

  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.

  • Display a cheerful demeanor and positive comments when on duty.

  • Work cooperatively with staff and demonstrate flexibility in assignments.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited PA or NP Program.
  • Minimum of two years of direct clinical experience in a high-volume primary care setting.
  • Possession of DEA License.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) with comprehension of medical terms in both languages.
