The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner, Hospital Based Trauma support role performs a wide variety of in-patient care duties. This position will work out of FV Southdale and FV Ridges.
This is a full-time, benefits eligible position will work four 10-hour shifts during the week.

Essential Functions:
- Daily rounds on all post-op and/or inpatient TCO patients at given partner hospital/facility
- Responsible for hospital consults, including calls from partner hospitals/facilities ER’s, and then communication with TCO physician
- Serve as the first point of contact and liaison between TCO switchboard/triage, patient, hospital/facility and TCO care team to determine (as appropriate), facilitate and communicate care plan
- Responsible for the discharge orders
- Coordination of any transitional/home care needs
- Establish and maintain a respectful work environment by setting an example within the organization. Develop a strong working relationship with hospital/facility staff, vendors, referral sources, staff and the general public
- Complete timely chart entries on all patient transactions, write orders and dictate progress notes
- Communicate with the Physician Assistant Leadership Team regarding any issue of both a routine and problematic nature.
- Exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making
- Develop team goals and objectives in conjunction with the Leadership Team
- Instruct and counsel patients regarding matters pertaining to their physical and mental health. Counseling may include topics such as medications, diets, social habits, family planning, prognosis and any other items which are directly related to the specialty care of the surgeon and the practice
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
- NCCPA certification
- Minnesota Board of Medical Practice registration/license
- DEA registration
- 1+ years’ experience in a clinic and/or surgery center setting; hospital rounding experience preferred

- Demonstrate prompt and reliable attendance
- Work in the clinic, office or surgery center during business hours
- Travel independently throughout the clinic, office or surgery center (which may include movement from floor to floor); frequent bending, lifting, standing, stooping or sitting for long periods of time may be required
- Work at an efficient and productive pace, handle interruptions appropriately and meet deadlines
- Communicate and interact in a respectful and professional manner
- Prioritize workload while being flexible to meet the expectations of the daily operations
- Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Understand and execute a variety of instructions
- Effectively operate equipment and communicate on and operate the phone system
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Travel to other work locations, if required
