Job Overview:
Shriners Children’s is looking for a full-time Physician Assistant to join our plastics team at Shriners Children’s Southern California.
Site Description
- Joint Commission Accredited Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) located in Pasadena, CA
- 2 state of the art surgical suites and four post-anesthesia care units
- 13 physicians (Anesthesiologists, Orthopedic Surgeons, Pediatricians, Plastic Surgeons) and 2 Physician Assistants
- In-house Pediatric Orthotic and Prosthetic Services (POPS)
- Specialties/services: Burn care, orthopedics, craniofacial, reconstructive surgery,
Position Details
- Schedule: 8:00am – 4:00pm on clinic days, 7:00am – 4:00pm on OR days
- Patient Volume: 20 patients per day (clinic), up to 5 patients per day (OR)
- Types of Patients: Pediatric plastics and plastics hand
- EMR: EPIC (clinic) and Cerner (OR)
- Pay Range: $60.59-$90.88 per hour
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the evaluation, treatment, and education of patients presenting with disabilities, injuries, and diseases affecting the musculoskeletal system under the direction of the supervising physician as delineated by California State Law.
- Maintains current knowledge and demonstrates skills necessary to provide care for patients.
- Maintains adequate patient and departmental records.
- Helps to maintain department order and does other job-related tasks commensurate with experience.
- Performs medical histories and physical examinations for patients (pre-operative and post-operative).
- Participates in the care of out-patients and in-patients in regard to orders for diagnostics and all orders required during hospitalization with documentation of the medical record.
- Assists in surgery
- Applies and removes casts and splints
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements
- Must possess a master’s degree in physician assistant studies from an accredited PA program
- Must possess or be eligible to obtain a valid CA PA license. Surrounding state licenses a plus
- Must possess current NCCPA certification or be board eligible
- Experience in plastic surgery preferred. Pediatric plastics experience highly preferred
- Must possess or be eligible for DEA License
- Current ACLS and PALS certification required
- Ability to analyze laboratory and radiography results
