Full Job Description
Midwest Nephrology Associates in Milwaukee, WI is seeking an additional NP/PA to join our established group of seventeen nephrologists and eleven advance practice providers (APP) in the Milwaukee area.
Inpatient care includes management of acute renal failure, electrolyte abnormalities, hypertension, chronic kidney disease, kidney stones, transplant, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. Outpatient clinic care includes hospital follow-ups, chronic kidney disease (CKD) management with a focus on education and dialysis preparation, anemia management and immunization services to adults ages 18 and older. The NP/PA works in collaboration with the nephrologists and other individuals of the health care team. The NP/PA serves as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.
Basic Job Duties:
- Obtains health histories and performs physical examinations.
- Orders appropriate diagnostic testing for acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Diagnoses and manages acute and chronic health conditions within the scope of practice.
- Prescribes or recommends appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies.
- Provides comprehensive care including CKD and anemia management.
- Encourages wellness care for patients, including age appropriate screenings and vaccinations.
- Teaches health promotion, wellness, and disease prevention through information, counseling, and education.
- Teaches and counsels individuals, families, and groups as indicated.
- Refers patients to appropriate resources, including specialists for further medical management.
- Documents patient data and maintains the electronic medical record.

Education:Nurse Practitioner: Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from accredited Nursing Program. Active RN and APNP license in State of Wisconsin AND active board certification as a NP in Adult, Adult/Gerontology Acute Care, or Family.Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from accredited PA Program. Active PA license in State of Wisconsin AND active PA board certification
