Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Part-time Associates who have completed their probationary period can move to full-time vacancies within their department provided such movement will not unreasonably reduce the operational efficiency of that department. Probationary period is three (3) months for full-time employees, and four (4) months for part-time employees who works more than 3/5 of the normal workweek.
Medical services rendered by Physician Assistants may include, but are not limited to, obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations; ordering and/or performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; formulating a diagnosis; developing and implementing a treatment plan; monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions; offering counseling and education to meet patient needs; making appropriate referrals. In an emergency situation in which a delay in administering treatment would result in serious harm to the patient or cause an immediate threat to life, and the patient’s physician is not immediately available, the Physician Assistant can be solely responsible for the care of the patient.
The activities listed above may be performed in any setting authorized by the supervising physician, including but not limited to, clinics, hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, patient homes, nursing homes, and other institution settings.
In addition to the core skills listed here, PAs will request validation to perform department specific skills.
This is a rotating schedule- it includes Days/Nights/ Weekends/Holidays
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors/Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
Graduate of an AMA accredited Physician’s Assistant program
Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician’s Assistants (NCCPA Certified)
Licenses from New York State Department of Education
Registered as a Physician’s Assistant in New York State.
BLS required
ACLS, ATLS & PALS Certification (or eligibility) within 1 year of hire.
