Full Job Description
The Inpatient Acute Care Cardiology Advanced Health Practitioner has clinical, procedural, administrative, and educational responsibilities in the care of patients requiring cardiac care. Under the supervision of the Chief of Cardiology and the Heart & Vascular Manager for Inpatient Cardiology Advanced Practice Providers and the Director of Advanced Practice Nursing, the Cardiology Nurse Practitioner will have a critical role in the inpatient setting, with both team member and individual duties. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $78.62 – $105.82 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
- Minimum two (2) years inpatient cardiology/cardiovascular or related physician assistant experience
- Possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to successfully perform the duties of the assigned position
- Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations and in varying schedules as outlined
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic cardiac point of care ultrasound skills
License/Certification
- Active and current California Physician Assistant License (PA).
- California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position.
- Current national board certification by first day of work and maintain.
- Active and transferable DEA license to California and have evidence of transfer by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
- Complete an AAPA recognized graduate master’s degree program as a physician assistant.
- Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through the credentialing process by first clinical day.
- Current AHA BLS
- Current AHA ACLS
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
