Full Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to serve as an APP Lead within our Virtual Clinic Support team. This role involves both clinical and administrative responsibilities, focusing on managing the VCS care team, overseeing virtual consultations, and guiding APPs in providing high-quality, efficient care. The APP Lead will ensure the smooth operation of clinical support services, enhance workflow efficiencies, and play a vital role in staff development, patient care improvement, and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision
Ø Team Management: Supervise and mentor APPs, ensuring high standards of patient care, professional development, and team collaboration.
Ø Workload Distribution: Coordinate APP tasks, managing in-basket workloads, virtual consultations, and refill requests to balance team capacity and optimize clinic efficiency.
Ø Performance Review: Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and establish individual development plans to support team members in meeting professional and clinical goals.
Ø Communication Flow: Act as a lead liaison, ensuring smooth communication between patients, PCPs, APPs, and specialists, while coaching APPs to maintain effective patient-provider communication.
Clinical In-Basket Management
Ø Prescription Refills: Oversee the APP team’s management of prescription refill requests, ensuring compliance with clinical decision.
Ø Patient Messaging: Ensure prompt, appropriate responses to patient messages through the EHR, guiding APPs to address issues that don’t require direct PCP involvement.
Ø Out of Office Coverage: Monitor and support the review of lab results and follow-up actions during periods of coverage for PCPs.
Quality & Process Improvement
- Innovation & Process Improvement: Lead process improvement initiatives, exploring new ways to enhance team operations, clinic workflows, and patient care delivery. Provide feedback to leadership and encourage the APP team to engage in process optimization efforts.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines, telehealth protocols, and organizational policies. Participate in and lead quality improvement initiatives.
- Continuous Learning & Development: Stay updated on best clinical practices, new healthcare technologies, and EHR functionalities. Encourage the APP team to engage in ongoing education and training to improve patient care and professional development.

Education:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies required
Experience:
- 4-6 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant required
Certification:
- Certified Massachusetts & New Hampshire Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant required upon hire
