Job Purpose
Provides advanced patient care to patients in a clinical setting in an area of specialization under the direction of a physician.
Job Duties
- See gynecologic oncology patients, including, but not limited to: Gynecologic cancer patients on chemotherapy, post-operative patients, and survivorship patients
- Provide chemotherapy teaching for gynecologic cancer regimens
- Patient education and counseling, including consents, survivorship, healthy lifestyle, and pre-operative counseling
- Cancer and chemotherapy symptom management
- Order and interpret laboratory, radiologic, and diagnostic studies
- Prescribing medications
- Answering EPIC MyChart patient messages
- Be available to answer questions from the infusion center (patient reactions, medication questions, etc)
- Participate in research and clinical trials.
- Track gynecologic cancer patients on chemotherapy
- Ensure pre-operative patients who need pre-operative clearance is obtained and if needed, care coordination with other services and/or physicians that may be outside the BCM network
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education Required: Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies or Master’s degree in Nursing. NOTE: Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies accepted based on terminal degree requirements at time of graduation.
- Experience Required: None required.
- Certification/Licenses/Registration: Current license as a Physician Assistant by the State of Texas Physician Assistant Board, or current APRN license by Texas Board of Nursing. Specialty certification as required by department. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
