Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Part-Time Trauma Physician Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive medical care and support to trauma patients in our facility. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a flexible part-time schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality trauma care to patients under the supervision of attending physicians.
- Perform initial patient assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations.
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the attending physician and other healthcare team members.
- Perform procedures as necessary, including wound care, suturing, and splinting.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Provide patient education and counseling on health maintenance and injury prevention.
- Document patient encounters accurately and timely in electronic medical records (EMR) system.
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including nurses, surgeons, and specialists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and trauma-related research projects as appropriate.
Requirements:
- Current certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) from an accredited program.
- Valid state licensure as a Physician Assistant in AZ.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in trauma or emergency medicine.
- Strong clinical skills, including the ability to perform trauma assessments and procedures with confidence and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to work independently and make sound clinical judgments in a fast-paced environment.
- Availability to work six 13-hour shifts per month, including two night shifts, two weekends, and two days.
- Availability to work 2 clinic shifts per month, usually run from 9a-1:30p.
- The schedule requires coverage on at least one Holiday Block a year, alternating between major and minor.
- Note that with the addition of EGS services this year, shift schedules may require adjustments, but the number of hours will stay relatively consistent.
- Commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered care.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing education and training to stay current on best practices and advancements in trauma care.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a trauma center or emergency department.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Certification in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Experience in conducting trauma-related research or quality improvement projects.
