Medical Provider (ARNP or Physician Assistant)

Salary: $170,000 – $190,000, commensurate with experience + certification

We Care Daily Clinics (WCDC) is a warm, welcoming, and modern facility that provides treatment for addiction in a person-centered environment located in Auburn. WCDC seeks to renew hope and purpose for those battling opioid use by removing barriers, providing a holistic approach to recovery, and utilizing evidence-based treatment to restore healthy living. Our top priority is to provide the highest levels of patient-centered care to those we serve.

WCDC is an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) using FDA approved medication paired with behavioral health counseling. Our individual service plans are built around patients in a supportive, safe environment to create a personalized pathway to recovery. In addition to recovery, we also offer planned patient transportation and family and social support.

Job Description:

The Medical Provider’s primary responsibility is to evaluate and treat opioid use disorder using evidence-based methods, including the management of methadone, buprenorphine/naloxone, and naltrexone therapies. Medical Providers also evaluate and treat other co-occurring substance use disorders when indicated, as well as certain related conditions including hepatitis C virus. The medical professional in this position shall be a nurse practitioner or physician assistant.

We Care Daily Clinics believes that Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) is the most evidence-based and patient-centered model of care for treating opioid use disorder. The Medical Provider should adhere to and value the philosophical priorities of harm reduction and treat all patients with respect, compassion, and dignity. The Medical Provider will report directly to the Medical Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the clinic protects the rights, dignity, and confidentiality of all patients
  • Practice within WCDC policies and procedures; recommend policy and procedure updates and changes as necessary; medical provider input is a vital source of improvement in safety and quality of care
  • Ensure timely and complete documentation of treatment records, medication security, and any other documentation required by federal, state, and local agencies
  • Conduct intake medical assessments and formulate treatment plans
  • Conduct patient dose evaluations and modify medications as indicated
  • Document findings and decision-making about care in electronic health record
  • Maintain timely and appropriate communication with team members
  • Facilitate appropriate communication and referrals with outside medical providers for needed care and follow-up
  • Evaluate, as necessary, patients with urgent or emergent medical needs and determine if further medical assistance is necessary
  • Maintain a strong policy knowledge of and compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local rules, laws and regulations regarding Opioid Treatment Programs
  • Participate in federal and state substance use disorder training and continuing education as needed to safely and effectively perform in the position
  • Interact with all staff in a positive and motivational fashion supporting the clinic’s mission and commitment to patient experience

Position Requirements:

  • Nurse Practitioners shall be certified and licensed as a nurse practitioner in the state of Washington.
  • Physician Assistants shall be licensed as a physician assistant in the state of Washington.
  • All Medical Providers must have Schedule II – V prescriptive authority from the State of Washington.

Experience:

  • Applicants should have experience in, comfort with, and desire for working with patients with substance use disorders, behavioral health diagnoses, and socioeconomic challenges, with a commitment to principles of trauma-informed care and harm reduction.
  • At least one year of experience treating substance use disorders is desired. Experience in treating opioid use disorder is preferred.
  • Experience working within an Opioid Treatment Program will be given hiring preference but is not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • A majority of the work shift is sitting at a desk in front of a computer.
  • Will spend some time on feet while interacting with patients and staff.
  • Should have the ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. as may be responsible for carrying heavy files.

Additional:

  • The nature of this position, as with most within substance use disorder treatment and outreach, may at times be fast-paced with high-stress situations and conditions. A successful applicant will be adaptive with respect to patient needs and scheduling, and will seek a position that offers a rewarding experience in offering recovery to those in crisis within a positive, patient-centered workplace.
  • WCDC operates mobile medical units, which provide OTP care to those in need who are physically or functionally isolated from a traditional brick-and-mortar care delivery system. WCDC may seek medical providers who are principally interested in providing care in a mobile clinic setting.
  • The position may require travel between proximate clinics under some circumstances. The exact schedule and time spent at each location may vary, depending on site needs.
  • Applicants should:
    • Be willing to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clients, and outside contacts from a wide variety of ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds and possess strong conflict-resolution, interpersonal communication, and time management skills
    • Have no history of alcohol or other drug misuse for three years prior to employment
    • Have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, electronic medical records systems, and a high level of initiative in keeping current with technological change
    • Be able to pass required background checks
    • Agree to all other testing, screening, and credentialing as required
