POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic Borland Groover Gastroenterology team in a hospital setting. The PA will work under the supervision of a licensed physician, providing patient-centered care to improve health outcomes. This role involves diagnosing and treating patients and working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide the highest standard of care. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, adaptable, and dedicated to meeting the diverse needs of patients in a fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct comprehensive physical exams and patient assessments, including gathering medical histories and performing diagnostic tests.
- Develop and implement treatment plans in consultation with supervising physicians.
- Prescribe medications and therapies as appropriate, following hospital and regulatory guidelines.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care, including patient education and discharge planning.
- Interpret diagnostic tests, including lab results, imaging studies, and other tests, and communicate findings to the supervising physician and patient.
- Participate in daily rounds, delivering patient updates and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Effectively communicate and educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and preventive health strategies.
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and ethical standards, ensuring compliance with all relevant healthcare laws and regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Develop a presence in the medical community by working closely with referring physicians and hospitalists.
- Effective communication with coworkers and referring physicians.
- Maintain continuing medical education requirements as required by license.
- Requires access to Personal Health Information (PHI), HIPAA training is required, and HIPAA compliance is expected.
- Must follow the organization’s Code of Conduct
- Must participate in the Compliance Program Initiatives and reporting and Compliance Issues
- Other duties assigned
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
To make decisions and recommendations appropriate with the above responsibilities. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret medical histories as presented. Work is performed in a hospital or office environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Requires a Physician Assistant or ARNP degree, licensed in the State of Florida
- Excellent verbal and written skills with EMR competency required.
- Ability to exercise flexibility and adaptability in work habits.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit for an extended period of time.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Ability to see within normal parameters.
- Ability to hear within normal range.
- Ability to use hands, arms, and legs within the specifications of the job
- Ability to assist unable patients with movement or transport to and in exam rooms
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
