Position Overview:
The Physician Assistant (PA) at OrthoArkansas provides direct patient care, including diagnosing and treating medical conditions, managing patient records, and collaborating closely with licensed physicians. This role is essential in delivering quality care and supporting patients through thorough assessments, treatment planning, and guidance on maintaining healthy practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care and Record Management:
- Document patient interactions, medical history, and treatment plans in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
- Provide comprehensive patient care by ordering and interpreting tests and blood work, and developing personalized treatment plans.
- Build and maintain strong rapport with patients to support effective communication and understanding.
2. Medical Examination and Treatment:
- Conduct physical examinations, assess health status, and diagnose a range of medical conditions.
- Prescribe and refill medications in accordance with established guidelines and patient needs.
- Offer personalized advice on healthy habits and preventive practices, promoting patient education and wellness.
3. Collaboration and Support:
- Work alongside practice physicians, contributing to patient evaluations, treatment plans, and coordinated care.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care.
- Provide clear communication and updates on patient progress to ensure continuity and quality of care.
4. Administrative Tasks:
- Support the smooth operation of the practice by completing additional tasks as assigned, including administrative support and assisting with quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree and graduation from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Active state licensure in Arkansas as a Physician Assistant.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field, with orthopedic experience preferred but not required.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Licensed as a Physician Assistant in the state of Arkansas.
- CPR certification.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent clinical skills, with a strong foundation in patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to foster effective patient relationships and team collaboration.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capability to handle fast-paced and diverse medical scenarios.
- Ability to work independently while effectively supporting the physician and healthcare team.
Software Skills:
- Basic: Alphanumeric data entry.
- Intermediate: Proficiency in EMR systems and word processing.
